Steenberg Country Hotel is situated in the lovely Constantia Valley on the Cape's oldest wine farm. The hotel buildings, dating from 1682, have been painstakingly restored and the estate declared a National Monument.

At Steenberg, the legendary elegance and traditions of the 17th and 18th centuries blend harmoniously with the most refined luxuries and conveniences of a five star hotel. There are nineteen elegant rooms located in the original Manor House, Jonkers Huis and the restored Barn. Each is tastefully furnished with period antiques and all rooms overlook the vineyards or manicured gardens.

Also, Steenberg has several cozy sitting rooms with working fireplaces, yellow wood floors, and wooden beamed ceilings. There are books to read, chess to play and port to sip, while absorbing the historic atmosphere.

The original winery provides an attractive setting for the Steenberg Restaurant, which features expertly prepared traditional Cape delicacies as well as more standard fare. There is also a working winery on the estate, producing some of the country's finest wines. Tours of the cellar and tastings can be easily arranged.
