KING'S CAMP

A bush brunch

King's Camp is located in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, on the western boundary of South Africa's great Kruger National Park. The Kruger Park (a 5.5 million acre sanctuary for wildlife, bigger than Wales or Massachusetts) is widely regarded as Africa's premier game reserve, and has been described as "no longer merely a national asset. It is part of a dwindling global treasure, the collective natural heritage of mankind". This western section is one of the most game-rich parts of the greater Kruger eco-system, and is home to Africa's 'big five' (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo), as well as hundreds of other species of African animals; it is also legendary for its 'white lions'.

Safari game-drive

Game-drive safaris at King's are conducted in specially adapted open Landrovers carrying a maximum of nine guests, with professional guides and trackers to help find animals, and then provide interesting background information and facts about Africa's spectacular wildlife. King's also offers night drives with spot lamps to view nocturnal species. Walking safaris with your guide and tracker provide even deeper and more 'hands-on' insight into the many intricate eco-systems of the African bush. All guides and trackers are carefully chosen for their knowledge and experience of the bush, and receive extensive training to ensure that your encounters with the African wilderness are exciting, informative, and safe.

The luxurious suite rooms

Accommodation is in luxury thatched chalets, with expansive glass windows, air-conditioning and en-suite facilities. In a successful marriage of colonial and contemporary African style, they are understated and elegant with great attention to detail. Huge wooden sleigh beds, white cotton sheets and lovely Victorian bathtubs mix perfectly with sisal carpeting, hand-dyed fabrics and indigenous basketry. The effect is pleasing, romantic and will delight your senses. With only eleven rooms personal attention and an intimate atmosphere is assured.

An open air 'boma' dinner

Other features deserving mention at King's Camp include a lovely swimming pool where you can relax and watch the game communing around a waterhole directly in front of camp. The "big five" are often spotted here! There is also a raised observation platform overlooking the very active waterhole. Bush breakfasts, dinners and sleeping out under the dazzling African night sky are other wonderful experiences offered.

At King's you can expect to be pampered with exceptional hospitality and experience the unique romantic ambience of a bygone era while satisfying all your game-viewing desires.
