Cape Winelands, Cape Town, and the Kruger Park

Day 1

You will arrive in Cape Town from Atlanta. At the airport, you will collect an Avis Group A car (Toyota Corolla 1.3 or similar, with manual transmission and radio tape deck). You will have this car for your 3 days in the Cape, on 100% cover, and with the option of free cellular phone rental. We will supply you with detailed maps and directions for getting around, as well as brochures for places of interest in the Western Cape. With these directions, you will make your way to the beautiful and historic Roggeland Country House just outside Paarl.

Days 1 to 3

You will spend 2 nights at Roggeland with dinner and breakfast included.

Day 3

Today you will make your way back to Cape Town, heading for the historic part of town, where you will spend the night at the eclectic De Waterkant Lodge, with breakfast included.

Day 4

This morning you will check out early from De Waterkant Lodge, and head for the airport. You will catch the 7:00am flight to Johannesburg, which arrives at 8:55am; from here you will connect with the 10:30am flight to Skukuza, arriving at 11:40am. At Skukuza you will be met by a representative from Leopard Hills Private Game Reserve, who will transfer you to the beautiful lodge.

While on safari at both lodges, your daily schedule will look something like this:

6:00 Wake-up with light breakfast of tea, coffee and snacks

6:30 Morning activity (game drive, mekoro ride, walk, boating, or canoeing, depending on the camp)

10:00/10:30 Brunch back at the lodge

11:00 Optional bush walk with your guide

Guests at leisure in the early afternoon

3:00 Tea

3:30 Afternoon activity

7:30 Return from activity

8:00 Dinner

Days 4 to 8

You will spend 4 nights at Leopard Hills on a full board basis (including accommodation in luxury chalets, all meals and teas, all game activities, park fees, and the services of a professional guide and tracker).

Day 8

After your morning activity and brunch you will be transferred to Skukuza, where you will collect another Group A car. You will make your way northwards along the western boundary of the Kruger National Park, towards the Makalali Wildlife Conservancy. Your destination is the wonderfully romantic Garonga Safari Lodge.

Days 8 to 11

You will spend 3 nights at Garonga Safari Lodge on a full board basis (including accommodation, all meals and teas, all game activities, park fees, soft drinks, house wines, local beers and spirits, and the services of a professional guide).

Day 11

After your morning activity and brunch, you will bid farewell to the African bush, and make your way towards Johannesburg. The drive should take you around 5 hours. In Johannesburg you will deliver your car to the nearest Avis terminal either this evening or tomorrow morning (any time before the time you picked the car up at Skukuza) - there are offices in Brakpan, Isando, Johannesburg International Airport, Braamfontein, Lanseria, Michelangelo Hotel in Sandton, Midrand, Park Hyatt Hotel in Rosebank, Randburg, Rand Airport in Germiston, Roodepoort, Sandton and Sunninghill. If you would like to keep the car for your 3 days in Johannesburg, and drop it off at the airport on your departure, the additional cost will be $33 per person.
